Kiera Frie, 22, of Saskatoon, set a new Canada Games record in the female 200m Wheelchair Tuesday. She finished with a time of 34.12, beating the previous Games record of 34.36 set in 1993. Cory Harrower finished 7th in the event.
In front of a large crowd, several event finals took place Tuesday at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place. In the 100m Hurdles Female, Jenni Hucul finished 5th and Jenna Mann finished 6th. Justin Baker, in a very close 110m Hurdles race, finished 4th. Jordan Nosbush finished 10th. In the male 400m, Joel Senick came 4th and Landon Hrestsina was 9th. In the female 400m, Sharai Siemens placed 7th and Julene Friesen was 9th. Julian Nahachewsky finished 6th in the 200m male Wheelchair. Braden Close came in 11th.
Field events included the Hammer Throw, where Justin Grief placed 5th and Andrew Smith had a 9th place finish. In Triple Jump, Les Andersen finished 9th and Cossy Nachilobe was 10th. In Shot Put, Taryn Suttie finished in 4th place and Kim Elliot finished 6th. The female long jump final was held this evening with Chelsea Valois and Chloe Hetherton finishing 5th and 6th respectively. Female Shot Put Taryn Suttee was 4th in the final and Kim Elliot 6th. In preliminaries today, Jessica Furlan and Jodi Souter qualified for the 1500m final. Shalane Haselhan and Chloe Hetherton qualified for the High Jump final.Decathlon closed out a very busy day at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place. Keegan Sharp from Yorkton claimed a bronze medal on behalf of Team Sask and Evan Neufeldt finished 6th. Both athletes recorded many personal best performances during the competition. There is a day off at the Track on Wednesday. Competition resumes Thursday.
