As part of the alumni engagement initiatives, the Canada Games Council (CGC) is working to engage all past Canada Games Host Communities in the celebration of the upcoming Canada Games; the 2013 Canada Summer Games being held in Sherbrooke, Quebec from August 2nd to 17th, 2013.
The idea is that the official Canada Games flag that will be flown at the Opening Ceremonies in Sherbrooke on August 2nd, 2013 will be the same flag that will be celebrated with each past Canada Games Host Community within a 3 day period before being sent to the next community.
The Canada Game flag was raised at City Hall in Regina this morning. Lorne Lasuita, Team Sask, Chef de Mission for the 2013 Canada Summer Games was the emcee for the flag raising event.
The Honourable Kevin Doherty, Minister for Parks, Culture and Sport brought greetings on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, Councillor Mike O’Donnell brought greetings on behalf of the City of Regina and John Lee the General Manager of 2005 Canada Summer Games brought greetings on behalf of the host organizing committee of the Regina games.
The flag was raised by Minister Doherty and Councillor O’Donnell to celebrate the Canada Games movement, the upcoming 2013 Canada Summer Games being held in Sherbrooke, Quebec and the Canada Games held in Regina in 2005.
