The 2023 Canada Winter Games took place from February 18-March 5, 2023 in Prince Edward Island. The Games featured 20 sports and saw competition among 3,600 of Canada's best amateur athletes from all 13 provinces and territories.
A total of 217 athletes, 74 coaches, managers, and technical staff, and 27 mission staff from 60 different communities across our province represented Team Sask at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, forming a full contingent of 317 participants. Team Sask boasted strong performances, including Silver in Men's Hockey and Bronze in Ringette. Gymnast Rylee Miller became Saskatchewan's most-decorated female gymnast in Canada Games history, and the first Saskatchewan female athlete to win gold in floor at the Games. Speed Skater Luca Veeman led Team Sask into the Opening Ceremony as flag bearer, while four-time Canada Games alumna Krystle Shewchuk was selected to carry the flag for the Closing Ceremony.
