RED DEER, AB (February 21, 2019): Team Sask is proud to announce that Gymnast Alix Pierce of Saskatoon has won Saskatchewan's first silver medal of the 2019 Canada Winter Games, taking second place in the women's Artistic Floor final after earning a score of 9.462. See full results here.

"The vast size of the Games was so amazing to have so many young athletes come together and celebrate," said Pierce.

This was the second medal earned by Artistic Gymnastics at the Games, after a tournament that saw competition in All Around, Individual, and Team events. Pierce had an excellent showing at the Games, placing 5th in the Team event, 6th in Individual Beam, and 12th in All Around. She also celebrated her 18th birthday on the third day of Gymnastics competition.

Pierce trains out of the Marian Gymnastics Club in Saskatoon under coach Chris Baraniuk, and earned gold medals at both the 2017 Western Canadian Championships and 2017 Saskatchewan Provincial Championships. She was also named Gymnastics Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year. See Alix's biography here.
