Charlottetown, PE – After being shut out on day 5, Team Sask is back on the podium early on day 6 at the Canada Winter Games.
Saskatoon’s Bon Lowe finished 2nd in the men’s 5,000m long track speed skating event in Halifax Thursday morning. After a Quebec skater was disqualified, Luca Veeman moved up from 4th place to capture a bronze medal in the event.
“He just killed it today!” said coach Tim Comfort of Lowe. “Everyone is so happy for Bon and (he) is flying high.”
The ice conditions in sunny Halifax caused events to be postponed on Wednesday. But, on Thursday morning, athletes were back on the Halifax Oval.
“(Bon) worked so hard and he’s such a likeable kid,” said Comfort. “He went out there and just willed it to happen.”
Still today in Halifax will be the female 5,000m and the team pursuits.
