Charlottetown, PE (February 19) – As the sun rises on day 2 at the Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island, week one competitions are set to begin.
Highlighting the first day of competition is Team Sask ringette meeting Ontario and men’s hockey facing off against New Brunswick in the afternoon.

CURLING - female

The opening draw at the Canada Games will feature Saskatchewan and Newfoundland starting at 10am AST (8am SK time).

Skip Hannah Rugg of Regina and her rink have high expectations heading into play.

Their second draw of the day will be at 2pm AST vs Quebec.

All games played in Summerside at the Silver Fox Entertainment Complex.
TABLE TENNIS

Table tennis opens Sunday with mixed doubles play. Saskatchewan begins at 10am AST.

Play happening in Charlottetown at the PEI Convention Centre.
SQUASH

Saskatchewan’s first squash match is scheduled for 2:40pm AST inside the East Link Centre in Charlottetown. Team Sask’s Will Shevkenek will face Ajit Bala of PEI.
FREESTYLE SKIING

Freestyle skiing begins with the aerials competition. Qualifications start at 3pm AST with the finals scheduled for 5pm AST and 6pm AST. Medal presentations are expected to begin around 8pm AST.
RINGETTE - FEMALE

The girls open play today at 3pm AST (1pm SK time) vs Ontario. During pre-games competition, Saskatchewan and Ontario played each other twice, each winning one time.

The game will be played at the Cavendish Wellness Centre in Montague.
HOCKEY - MALE

Saskatchewan hits the ice this afternoon as play opens. They’ll face-off with New Brunswick at 4pm AST (2pm SK time).

The team is looking to improve upon their 4th place finish at the Red Deer 2019 Canada Winter Games. New Brunswick was an 8th place finisher in 2019, losing to Alberta in the quarter finals.
