Saskatchewan finished the Western Canada Summer Games on Sunday with 127 medals - 22 gold, 42 silver and 63 bronze.
The medal haul on the closing day included two golds in rowing, with Julie Nguyen of Regina and Sarah Craven of Saskatoon reaching the podium both times in the Wood Buffalo municipality of Alberta.
Nguyen and Craven won the female double sculls event and teamed with Kendell Massier and Kate Morstad, both of Regina, to win female quadruple sculls.
Saskatchewan also won two bronze medals in rowing, with Regina's Thomas Markewich reaching the podium on each occasion. Markewich and Regina's Connor Cooke were third in male pair oars without coxswain. Markewich and three Saskatoon rowers - Liam Cattet, Eric Chateigner and Brammon Edwards - finished third in male four oars without coxswain.
Also on Sunday, Saskatchewan won the silver medal in baseball, losing 7-3 to British Columbia in the final.
Saskatchewan also earned bronze medals in male volleyball, female volleyball and female softball Sunday. Saskatchewan swept Manitoba in both volleyball bronze-medal matches and beat Manitoba 6-4 in the softball bronze-medal game.
In soccer, Saskatchewan played in both bronze-medal matches Sunday, losing 1-0 to Alberta (female) and 5-1 to Manitoba (male).
Saskatchewan won 10 medals Saturday - four silver and six bronze.
Three of the silver medals were earned in rowing - courtesy of Craven (female single sculls), along with the female four oars without coxswain and eight oars with coxswain teams.
Saskatchewan's female golf team also won a silver medal. Prince Albert's
Brooke Hobson, a member of the medal-winning golf team, was Saskatchewan's flag-bearer at Sunday's closing ceremonies in Fort McMurray, Alta.
Saskatchewan won rowing bronze medals in male quadruple sculls and female pair oars without coxswain Saturday. The names of the rowing and golf team members were unavailable at source.
Team Saskatchewan also won four bronze medals in swimming, including the province's first-ever Special Olympics medal in that sport. North Battleford's Lindsay Reimer won the landmark medal in the female 50-metre breaststroke. Saskatchewan's other swimming bronze medals Saturday were won by Regina's Brian Palaschuk (male 200m freestyle) and two male relay teams -4x50m freestyle and 4x100m medley. Earlier, Palaschuk won a silver medal Friday in the 400m freestyle. Also on Friday, Palaschuk was a member of two bronze-medalwinning relay teams.
Palaschuk and fellow Reginan Jacob Korpan were joined by Saskatoon swimmers Dylan Reiber and Stephen Fisher on a male team that placed third in the 4x50m medley relay. Palaschuk, Reiber, Fisher and Regina's Jake Egarhos were third in male 4x100m freestyle relay.
In addition, Jean-Phillippe Dufresne of Regina won a bronze medal in the male 200m backstroke Friday.
Saskatchewan finished fourth in the medal standings, behind B.C. (134 gold, 85 silver, 65 bronze, and 284 in total), Alberta (62-85-75, 222) and Manitoba (48-47-49, 144).
The 2019 Western Canada Summer Games are to be held in Swift Current.
