ST. JOHN’S, NL (August 24, 2025): Team Sask is thrilled to announce the two outstanding athletes who will lead Saskatchewan into the Closing Ceremonies of the 2025 Canada Summer Games on Sunday, August 24th: 3x gold medalist in Diving Lila Stewart and 2x gold medalist in Para Athletics Brendan Cote-Williamson. Photos of both athletes are available here. Photo credit: Michael Scraper/Team Saskatchewan Seventeen-year-old Stewart led the way for Team Sask in the second half of the Games, earning her first gold medal on Tuesday, August 19th with a commanding performance in the Women’s Artistic Dive event. The next day, she placed third in the 3m Springboard to earn bronze. On Thursday, she returned to the top of the standings to take gold in the 1m Springboard. Finally, on August 24th, she – along with teammates Kash Tarasoff and Isa Koop – put on a masterclass performance in the Team event, besting top competitors Quebec by 48.25 points to earn her third gold medal. Cote-Williamson is from Cote First Nation and celebrated his 21st birthday at the Games – on the same day that he broke his own Athletics Canada national record in the T47 100m race. His top placing and time of 11.50 in that preliminary race carried him forward to Friday’s final, where he raced to a gold medal in a time of 11.77. On Saturday, the final day of track races at the Fortis Canada Games Athletic Complex, he ran 52.07 in the para ambulatory 400m to capture another gold medal. More to come, including a full 2025 Canada Summer Games recap. A reminder that photos are available for media and public use here. There is also a Dropbox link with media b roll and interviews here. These will be updated daily. QUOTES: “I think it’s super special. I feel honoured to represent the Saskatchewan flag and represent my province. It was super fun being in the village and having the whole Team Sask behind me, with other sports coming and watching our events. To come away with medals is such an honour and I’m so proud to have done so well this week.” Lila Stewart, Diving “It’s great. I was the Team Sask flag bearer for the North American Indigenous Games in 2023 so it’s nice to do it again for the second time. The Games have been so fun. Multi-sport games are always amazing.” Brendan Cote-Williamson, Para Athletics GOLD | 13 SILVER | 14 BRONZE | 21 TOTAL | 48 QUICK LINKS
