Team Sask is excited to announce Conner Sorley from Saskatoon as the Flag Bearer, and Jaycee Gebhard from Plenty as the Lantern Carrier for the 2015 Canada Winter Games Opening Ceremony.
Sorley competed in Archery—Recurve for the 2011 Canada Winter Games, winning a Gold medal in the individual event and a silver in the team event for Saskatchewan. Since then he has won numerous medals in the Canadian Outdoor Target Championships, Canadian Field Championships, and National Indoor Target Championships, and has shot as a guest at the Easton JOAD Nationals (US National Championships). Conner is now attending the University of Toronto and continuing to train and compete.
Gebhard recently competed for Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship. Other accomplishments include SFMAAAHL Rookie of the Year (2011), JWHL Top Scorer and MVP- Player of the Year (2013), and competing for Team Saskatchewan in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Gebhard is currently attending and competing for the Notre Dame College in Wilcox.
The Opening Ceremony will be aired live on TSN2 on February 13, 2015 at 19:00 PT.
Athletes will be competing in 19 different sports throughout the two week event. Team Sask results will be updated daily on the Team Sask web site at www.teamsask.ca and can also be found at https://cg2015.gems.pro.
