Jarret Kenke and Mykel Kowaluk of Saskatoon and Lexy Vincent of Regina have been named to CanoeKayak Canada’s sprint racing national teams for the upcoming season.  The selection was based on results this year at national team trials and the national championships.

Kenke and Kowaluk have been named to the Senior Men’s Kayak Development Team.  This will be Kenke’s second year with the team. He had previously been a member of the junior national development team and has represented Canada at the U23 World Championships, the Junior World Championships and two sets of Pan Am Championships.  Kowaluk has been part of the national program in previous years but this is his first time named to a national team.

Both Kenke and Kowaluk won 5 medals each in single and team boat events at the 2013 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships and matched this accomplishment at the 2013 Canada Games.  Kowaluk was selected as the flag bearer for Team Sask for the Games closing ceremonies.  Both athletes are members of the Saskatoon Racing Canoe Club and are coached by Andre Gronowicz.

Vincent was named to the Junior Women’s Kayak Development Team.  This will be her first time on a CanoeKayak Canada national team.    Vincent had significant results in 2013 at the national level, winning two medals in single boat events at the 2013 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships.  She also won a medal for Team Sask at the 2013 Canada Games in a single boat event.  Vincent is a member of the Wascana Racing Canoe Club and is coached by Gabor Kulcsar.
