On Thursday morning Team Saskatchewan released the team pins that will make their way to Prince Edward Island next week.
At the 2022 Canada Summer Games, Team Saskatchewan's pins were some of the most popular among pin traders at the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Pin trading (along with uniform trading) has traditionally been seen as its own sport at the Canada Games! People tend to get competitive searching for the best and most elusive pins.
The Team Sask 2023 pin set, produced by a local Saskatchewan company: THE PIN PEOPLE. With the bar set high, the anticipation had been building around the 2023 reveal.
The five-piece pin set features two snow globes made up of four total pieces. One features a Saskatchewan winter wonderland while the other has an ode to Prince Edward Island with the Confederation Bridge, lobster and the 2023 Canada Games mascot, Wowkwis (Whoa-quis). Wowkwis is named after the Mi'kmaq First Nations peoples’ word for “red fox". The snow globes are anchored by the very popular Prairie Lilly.
The fifth pin, the snowflake, is the team's mission pin. The limited-edition and rare piece will be very sought-after in PEI.
Athletes, coaches, and support staff will be equipped with these beautiful pins as they head to PEI for the start of the Canada Winter Games on February 18th.
