The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) would like to congratulate the 2012 Women’s Olympic Team and Saskatchewan’s Kaylyn Kyle and Kelly Parker for winning the first Bronze medal for Canada in a traditional summer team sport since the Berlin Olympics in 1936.

In a tough game Canada positioned themselves for the win in extra time, by being patient, keeping their focus and work effort high. The win comes against a very strong team from France.
This bronze medal demonstrates the heart and resiliency of our Canadian athletes and will go a long way toward erasing the heartbreak suffered in the controversial semi-final loss to the United States. In addition, it is anticipated that this win and the media coverage from the Olympics will result in significant interest in the beautiful game in Saskatchewan and across Canada.
The SSA would like to extend congratulations to the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) for creating a pathway for success for our soccer players. CSA leadership and guidance to the Canadian soccer community has provided our athletes with the opportunities to compete at the highest levels in Canada including All Stars, National Championships, World Cups and now the Olympics.
We would also like to thank the Saskatoon soccer community for supporting the development of Kaylyn and Kelly. All the hard work that is done at a local level has contributed to their success and, ultimately, Canada’s success today.
The SSA is a community; all member organizations, players, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers should also share in this historical achievement in Canadian soccer. By working collectively the soccer community in Saskatchewan creates the infrastructure within which present and future Saskatchewan Olympians are developed.
