ST. JOHN’S, NL (August 12, 2025): It was a medal-winning day at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s as Saskatchewan picked up their first medal of the Games on Quidi Vidi Lake and followed it up with their first gold medal of the Games in the pool!

DAY 4 COMPETITION RECAP

BASKETBALL (M & F)

  • On Tuesday the men put up a 94-64 win versus YT.
  • They’ll meet Nova Scotia at 7:15am SK time (10:45am local) to wrap up pool play on Wednesday morning.
  • On Tuesday the women’s team picked up another win, beating Yukon 98-16 to improve to 3-0.
  • The final game of the round robin will be Wednesday when they meet Manitoba at 5am SK time (8:30am local).

BASEBALL (M)

  • Team Saskatchewan couldn’t get the bats going on Tuesday in a 2-0 loss to BC to wrap up pool play. 
  • They meet Quebec in a qualification game on Wednesday morning at 4:30am SK time (8am local).

BEACH VOLLEYBALL (M & F)

  • Beach volleyball was postponed on Tuesday and will be postponed again on Wednesday.

BOX LACROSSE (F)

  • A 10-1 win over NL on Tuesday wrapped up pool play and saw Team Sask finish 3-1 and 2nd in pool B.
  • They meet Ontario on Wednesday in a quarterfinal at 10:30am SK time (2pm local).

CANOE/KAYAK

  • It was a great day on the water as Baer Robertson picked up Saskatchewan’s first medal of the games on Tuesday in the men’s c-1, 1,000m. 
  • On Wednesday more races from Quidi Vidi Lake including 200m and 500m events.

CYCLING (ROAD)

  • Tuesday was a course familiarization ride for the road race.
  • The road race goes Wednesday with all Saskatchewan cyclists competing. There are a total of 44 male cyclists competing and 33 females. The men’s race will be over 110km long. The women’s race will be over 85km long.

RUGBY SEVENS (M & F)

  • Men’s rugby had a tough day dropping their first game of the day 31-10 to New Brunswick before falling 43-0 to BC in the quarterfinal. They’ll play a qualification against the hosts from NL on Wednesday at 8:20am SK time (11:50am local).

TENNIS

  • Team Sask dropped a tough one 4-2 to Nova Scotia on Tuesday to fall to 2-1 at the Games. 
  • They finished second in their pool and will now meet NT on Wednesday in a qualification match set for 4:30am SK time (8am local).

SOFTBALL (F)

  • On Tuesday, the women wrapped up the round robin with an 11-4 win over PEI. They finished 2-2 and third in their pool.
  • On Wednesday our softball team will meet the winner of Nova Scotia and Quebec in a qualification game starting at 3pm SK time (6:30pm local).

SOCCER (M)

  • Tuesday was a practice day for the boys and Wednesday is a full day off before they are back on the pitch Thursday.

SWIMMING

  • It was an exciting day in the pool for our swim team! Leo Zheng of Regina picked up Saskatchewan’s first gold medal of the Summer Games in the 100m (s6-14) para men’s backstroke.
  • On Wednesday, morning prelims will feature the grueling 200m butterfly. In the evening finals will wrap up with the 4x100m medley relay.

SAILING

  • Sailing was postponed for the day on Tuesday and will also be postponed on Wednesday.
