ST. CATHARINES, ON (August 11, 2022): There was no shortage of action on Day 5 of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.

Many teams had training days, but those who competed gave everything they had to make it to the next round. Box lacroose and softball played outstanding games today winning, 12-1 and 5-0 respectively.

Wrestling moves from the team event to individual matches tomorrow, men's volleyball will be on the court early for quarterfinal action and men's soccer plays in the qualification round in what will be a nail biting game to see if they advance.

QUOTES OF THE DAY:

  • “The Host gifted a drum to all the provinces, including Team Sask. As fate would have it, the lady (Kelyn Best) that presented our drum had a connection to Gordon’s (George Gordon First Nation). She is a descendant of Flora Morris!”, Crystal Longman, Box Lacrosse Team Sask Mission Staff.
  • “We have a very young team, a very inexperienced team, but I’m pretty proud of the effort today,” Brad Clifford, Team sask mountain bike coach.

TEAM SASK SPOTLIGHT:

  • Box lacrosse had an outstanding game against PE, winning 12-1.
  • Women’s softball has been dominating throughout the Games. The women shutout Team NB in just five innings of play to move on to the next round.
  • At the 13/13 drum art presentation our representatives, box lacrosse mission staff Crystal Longman from George Gordon First Nation, alongside our Chef de Mission Mark Bracken, had the honour to accept the Clan and Moon series drum on behalf of Team Saskatchewan.
