DAY 7 COMPETITION RECAP
BASEBALL (M)
- Though Baseball had a tough loss to Quebec (9-4) in their third matchup of the tournament, the team is still in the running for the podium. They’ll play for bronze on Saturday at 11:30 AM CST/3:00 NST. This could be a three-Canada Games streak for Team Sask Baseball following their historic gold in 2017 and bronze in 2022.
BASKETBALL (M & F)
- The women’s team took PEI 70-44 on Friday and will play for 5th on Saturday at 5:00 AM CST/8:30 AM NST. Opening Ceremonies flag bearer Hayden Kot will not head back home to Saskatchewan with her team – instead, she’ll stay in the Athletes’ Village for another week to compete in women’s Volleyball. The women’s indoor Volleyball competition will begin with Saskatchewan vs. Quebec at 1:00 PM CST/4:30 PM NST on Tuesday, August 19.
- On the men’s side, Saskatchewan will play Nova Scotia Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM CST/5:30 PM NST for a qualifying game. If they win, they will play for fifth place on Saturday morning at 7:15 AM CST/10:45 AM NST against the winner of Manitoba vs. New Brunswick.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL (M & F)
- After Friday morning’s 2-1 win against Team BC, Team Sask Beach Volleyball pair Erika Markentin and Alexa Smith will move onto the semifinals tomorrow, confirming they will play for a medal later in the day on Saturday. The semifinal match is scheduled for 9:00 AM NST/5:30 AM CST on Saturday, August 16 at Paradise Park.
- The men’s team took Team NT in straight sets on Friday afternoon and will square up against Team NL at 7:30 AM CST/11:00 AM NST Saturday morning for 9th place.
SOCCER (M)
- Men’s soccer wrapped up in ninth place after a 5-1 win against Manitoba Friday morning with a hat trick from Saskatoon's Zach Kim.
SAILING
- Daniel Laverty continued on in the men’s single-handed ILCA and is sitting tied for 4th place after 7 races.
TENNIS
- Beat Manitoba 4-2 in a consolation match. They will play for fifth place on Saturday afternoon against Nova Scotia at 10:30 AM CST/2:00 PM NST.
SWIMMING
- Owen Eisler had an incredible effort in the open-water swim. The 3 kilometre race saw Eisler lead after the first lap and swim to a final time of 39.34.52. Though he’s a distance specialist in the pool, today’s race was one of his first times ever competing in the open water event at a distance twice the length of the indoor 1500m. Landon Kennedy placed 16th.
- In the women’s race, Macy Harlos placed 12th, with Clara Gelhorn not far behind in 13th..
