This past weekend at the Michelle Moore/Canada Games [Swimming] Trials competition in Regina another 8 provincial records were broken;
Maya Lehnert-Thiel broke all the Long Course Breaststroke records (50, 100 and 200) in the 13 and 14 age category. She broke the 50 Breast both in the morning prelims and then again at night in the finals lowering the mark to 0:34.77
She lowered the 100 breast record to 1:14.47 almost 2 seconds off the old record which was set back in 1992 by Rhiannon Leir; who went on to represent Canada in both the 2000 and 2004 Olympics!
In the 200 Breast, Maya broke her own record, set just 3 weeks ago by almost 3 second making the new record 2:37.01. She broke the 200 Breast record in both the 13 & 14 Age Group and in the Senior/Open.
Jacob Korpan continued his record breaking run in the backstroke; breaking the 13 and 14 Male 50 Back record with a time of 0:28.52. Korpan also broke the 100 Back record with a time of 1:00.48; just 1/100th faster than the old record that was set back in 1992 by Riley Janes; who competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Noah Choboter broke the 15 to 17 Male 50 Fly record with a time of 0:25.58. This record has been held since 1994 by Doug Wake.
